During Christmas break, the devastating news that no family wants to hear was delivered to Luca and his family; their 15-year-old son, Luca, had been diagnosed with Stage 2A Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Despite the challenging diagnosis, Luca has maintained a positive outlook and taken each day as it comes. His diagnosis came as a surprise during a routine checkup with his allergist. However, he has remained strong during his chemotherapy treatments, and is making great progress.

Luca, a vibrant and passionate boy has a love for soccer. Luka and his family have shown incredible compassion and generosity towards other families going through similar struggles. Luca and his entire soccer team have raised over $40,000 for cancer research through an outpouring of love and support from their community. They were able to do this by shaving their heads and receiving donations. Their efforts have generated a sense of positivity during this difficult time and have inspired others to help in any way they can.

Luca also has found passion in his music; it has been a great source of comfort and relief during the long hours of treatments, as he takes to playing his electric guitar and keyboard. In fact, his doctors and nurses have been so impressed by his talent that they have requested he play for others on the floor as well. Fightstrong Foundation had the pleasure of helping fuel his passion for music by donating an electric drum set, chair, and speaker. We hope that this helps him throughout his battle and motivates him to continue in his young music career.

“Joseph and Michelle, your compassion towards other families that share in the darkest days of your story is such a light. Thank you for generating positivity during this difficult time.” – Luca’s mom, Carolyn

Luca is a light that is shining so bright in not only his community, but also in the lives for those battling cancer. By him sharing his music during his treatments is helping others get through their battle a little easier.

We love you, Luca! Stay strong.
