Meet Michelle Albanese, a resilient individual whose life took an unexpected turn on December 16th when she received the diagnosis of Cholangiocarcinoma, accompanied by the scary news that it had reached stage 4, making it terminal.
Seeking clarity, Michelle sought a second opinion at Sloan Kettering, only to receive the same prognosis from her oncologist there. From January onwards, her life became a tumultuous roller coaster ride. A massive abdominal tumor severely restricted her daily life, leaving her with little energy, reduced appetite, and sleepless nights, confining her mostly to her living room chair.
However, some hope emerged in April when an oncology specialist successfully removed the substantial mass and several other tumors, along with additional cancerous areas. With this transformative surgery, Michelle's strength began to return. She started eating better and regaining some independence, venturing out for small errands on her own.
In her journey to face an uncertain future, Fightstrong Foundation had the opportunity to step in and provide valuable support. They donated multiple gift cards and daily accessories, offering a lifeline to help her navigate her days with greater ease. Michelle, with her unyielding spirit and determination, has proven herself to be a remarkable fighter.
The path ahead may be uncertain, but Michelle is resolute in her commitment to being the decision-maker in her world.
